Last week we mentioned that Anquan Boldin flew under the radar screen on draft day of his rookie season. He burst on the scene in week one that season and turned many teams into winners. Did we see any Anquan Boldin’s in week one in 2006?

Jericho Cotchery from the Jets had the biggest day among the free agents in the National Fantasy Football Challenge New York #9 league. This league is deep, with 14 teams drafting 18 players. The Jets offense surprised almost everyone in week one, with Chad Pennington winning AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Is Cotchery for real? I believe he will be alright, but I see the Jets offense struggling against good teams.

Marques Colston from the Saints has a chance to be a star in the Saints offense. Even as the third target behind Joe Horn and Reggie Bush there will be plenty of footballs to go around with the Saints expected to play in many high scoring games.

Mike Furrey from the Lions is a virtual guarantee to be a free agent in your league. With the Lions finally dumping the underperforming first-round draft choices, the opportunity is there for Mike Furrey to flourish. Furrey has a long connection to Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz, having played the past three seasons in St. Louis. Furrey is such a good athlete that the Rams converted him to safety and he started 11 games for the Rams in 2005. Furrey may very well serve as the possession receiver for quarterback Jon Kitna.
