The good news is that there are no more byes. The bad news is that the running backs are going down like flies.

Clinton Portis is no better than 50-50, with some reports that he could miss 3-4 weeks. Steven Jackson appears likely to miss his fourth straight game (including the game he tried to play, but couldn’t). Reggie Bush will probably miss one more week. The status of Earnest Graham is up in the air. Steve Slaton is apparently wearing down. Brian Westbrook is reportedly less than 100%. And don't even start with the Broncos running back situation–it got so bad that they had to sign the suitcase thief, Tatum Bell.

The good news is that there are still some free agent running backs out there that could be useful down the stretch. Fred Taylor was cut in many leagues, and while he might be near the end of the line, he is certainly better than some of the other options. Ahman Green could begin to see assume a bigger load from Steve Slaton, if Green himself could stay healthy for more than a week at a time. And nobody know what kind of shape Cadillac Williams is really in, except for Jon Gruden,who believes he is healthy enough to activate.
