NFL By the Numbers > Week 9

32 - The number of rushing yards for Marc Bulger on three attempts Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Bulger, who is not known for being fleet of foot, was the top rusher for the Rams, and that isn't a compliment to him or the team. Steven Jackson and Antonio Pittman combined for 29 yards on 17 carries. Together they couldn't even muster two yards a carry.

2, 1, 2, 2 - Ranking for 37-year-old Kurt Warner in quarterback rating (104.2), completion percentage (69.9%), passing yards (2,431), and touchdowns (16). You better believe that Rams fans in St. Louis were shaking their heads Sunday wondering why they let him go, all while Cardinals fans were chanting "In Kurt We Trust".

250 - The listed weight for Denver Broncos rookie running back Peyton Hillis. At 6'2" he's no dainty back--that's why his seven receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown jumped off the stat sheet like you were wearing those 3-D glasses.

176 - All-purpose yards for rookie running back Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens Sunday. With a flood of rookie talent at the running back position in the NFL this season, Rice has been a bit overlooked--that is, until this past Sunday. He carried the ball 21 times for 154 yards on the ground and snagged three passes for 22 more by air. He didn't score and has yet to find the end zone this season, but his time will come.

0 - The number of running backs this week that scored at least two touchdowns. There were 17 running backs that found the end zone once, 15 on the ground and two by air, but no one scored more than once.

3 - The number of starting quarterbacks that were injured this week. Kyle Orton, Matt Schaub, and Ben Roethlisberger were all knocked out of their games this week, opening the door for waiver-wire bidding on Rex Grossman, Sage Rosenfels, and Byron Leftwich--that is, if they are still available in your leagues. Prognosis on all three will be forthcoming in the week. As for Brad Johnson, he wasn't injured, though he basically played about as well as an injured quarterback. Brooks Bollinger took over for Johnson, but Dallas is sure hoping that Tony Romo is ready to go after their upcoming bye week.

2 - The number of receptions and the number of touchdowns for Atlanta's Michael Jenkins Sunday. He snagged two Matt Ryan passes, one for a 37-yard score and another for a 27-yard score. Talk about making your touches count.

131 - The number of receiving yards for Philadelphia tight end Brent Celek. Starting for an injured L.J. Smith, Celek was a popular target for Donovan McNabb. They connected six times, though not for any touchdowns. If your looking to snag Celek on the waiver wire, tread carefully as Smith might just be returning this week.

4 - Consecutive games in which Bernard Berrian has scored a touchdown. He's becoming quite the popular deep threat for Gus Frerotte and the Minnesota Vikings. The two hooked up just twice on Sunday against Houston, but Berrian tallied 104 yards on those two catches. He was always a big game weapon in Chicago, but he's averaging 20.7 yards per reception this year, 5.0 yards more than his per reception career average.

157 vs. 1 - The number of carries and touchdowns for Packers running back Ryan Grant. He ranks sixth in carries in the NFL, but is the only running back in the top 27 in carries to not score at least twice. Meanwhile, LenDale White has just 98 carries and leads the NFL with 10 touchdowns.
