NFL By the Numbers > Week 7

66 - Points against given up by the Tennessee Titans in six games this season. That's just 11 per game. No one else in the NFL is even close. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the only other team to give up less than 100 points, and they come in second at 89--21 points behind the Titans. The Steelers are 5-1, and the Titans are the lone undefeated team at 6-0.

134, 3 - All-purpose yards and touchdowns for Pittsburgh running back Mewelde Moore on Sunday. With Willie Parker out and rookie Rashard Mendenhall done for the season, the Steelers are leaning on Moore. Last week he delivered with 99 rushing and 17 receiving yards but no scores. This week he averaged 6.0 yards per carry for 120 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 14 yards and another score.

332 - Total rushing yards for the Tennessee Titans Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Rookie Chris Johnson rattled off 168 yards on 18 carries, while teammate LenDale White recorded 149 on 17 attempts. White, who suffered criticism in years past for being a tad overweight, broke an 80-yard run for his third score of the game and eighth of the season; thus putting his critics to rest. Johnson tried to keep pace by busting loose for his own 66-yard score. The Chiefs' opponents are averaging over 200 yards rushing per game. They play the Jets next week. Thomas Jones could be in for a big week.

1 - The number of quarterbacks that passed for 300+ yards this week, the fewest all season. It wasn't a high-powered passing week. Jeff Garcia was the lone QB to reach the milestone. On the flipside, it was quite the rushing week. 11 running backs registered over 100 yards on the ground, the largest group to hit that milestone in a week this season. Clinton Portis led the way once again with 175 yards.

30, 450 - Receptions and receiving yards the past three weeks for Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson. He's only scored twice, but Matt Schaub is getting him the football early and often. Shame on you if you gave up on Johnson earlier in the season. If you cashed in on a trade when his stock was down, you're all smiles.

160, 3 - Rushing yards and touchdowns for St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson. He and his fellow Rams took it to the Tony Romo-less Cowboys scoring 34 consecutive points en route to a 34-14 blowout. The Rams are now 2-4 and 2-0 under new head coach Jim Haslett. That puts them just two games off the pace of the Arizona Cardinals--and the two clubs haven't even faced off yet.

3-3 - The Indianapolis Colts' record after losing in Green Bay Sunday afternoon. In Weeks Five and Six Peyton Manning's passer rating was 101.0 and 134.7, respectively. Just when you thought he was back to form, he laid an egg in northern Wisconsin with a 46.6, completing just 21 of 42 passes for zero touchdowns and two interceptions. It doesn't get any easier, either. The next three weeks the Colts are faced with a trip to Tennessee, a matchup at home with the Patriots, and a trip to Pittsburgh.

0 - Touchdown passes thrown by Drew Brees Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Brees only threw for 231 yards and was intercepted once. Thing is, he's also thrown for 421 yards in Week Three in a losing cause. The Saints are 3-4. In each of their three wins Brees had three touchdown passes. It's not rocket science: if Brees throws for three or more scores, the Saints win.

136.3 - Passer rating for Matt Cassel this week, tops in the NFL if you throw out Byron Leftwich's 3-for-3 performance with a touchdown. Cassel leaned on Sammy Morris' 137 rushing yards and spread the ball around Monday night, exploiting the Denver secondary like a seasoned veteran. He completed 18 of 24 passes for just 185 yards, but he also connected for three touchdowns, two to Randy Moss.

43 vs. 3 - Receptions for Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall, which ranks him third in the NFL, compared to the number of times he's fumbled the pigskin. The Broncos lost two of those fumbles. No other wide receiver in the NFL has fumbled that many times, nor lost the football to the defense as many times as Marshall.
