4 - The number of weeks Tony Romo is forecasted to miss thanks to a broken finger on this throwing hand. If you saw the end of the game, it was noticeable how badly Romo missed his final couple passes to Terrell Owens. Now we know why. Brad Johnson, the 40-year-old backup, will step in for Romo. He has a host of weapons around him, including a dominant running game in Marion Barber and Felix Jones, not to mention T.O. and Jason Witten.
5 - The number of teams held to 10 points or less this weekend. Baltimore (3), Detroit (10), Oakland (3), Carolina (3), and New England (10) just couldn't find their mojo on the offensive side of the football. The New York Giants (14), Cincinnati Bengals (14), and Minnesota Vikings (12) didn't fare much better, but at least the Vikings eked out a win in Week Six.
5 - The number of games decided in the final minute of play this weekend. It was one exciting dash to the finish, especially at the end of the early afternoon games on Sunday. Houston, Atlanta, St. Louis, Arizona, and Minnesota all beat the clock for the W. The Falcons, who are now 4-2, beat the Bears after Chicago had taken a 20-19 lead with just 11 seconds to play. All these losses were tough to swallow for the teams on the losing end.
107.2 - Average rushing yards per game for Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis. We're just six weeks into the season, but Portis is averaging the most yards per game in his career since joining the Redskins back in 2004.
141.9 - Passer rating for Philip Rivers Sunday against the New England Patriots. Rivers' passer rating for the first three games of the season were 125.1, 120.4, and 130.0. Then in weeks four and five, he fell apart against Oakland and Miami, faltering to 58.8 and 76.3, respectively. In those first three games he threw nine touchdowns compared to two interceptions, but in over the next two weeks, he passed for just two scores and two picks. He got back to work this week, tossing three more scores and no interceptions.
94.3 - Average receiving yards per game for Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White. There's no ignoring him now. White ranks second in the NFL with 566 receiving yards. He put himself on the map last season very quietly going for 1,202 receiving yards, and he's continuing to build on that momentum.
48 - The number of field goals made this weekend. It was a kicker's weekend, no doubt. From the last minute kicks in the clutch, to the reliance on their legs throughout the game. Joe Nedney, Josh Brown, and David Akers all sank four kicks each. Jason Elam hit five for the Falcons. And five kicks in total were nailed from 50+ yards. If you had any of those four kickers this weekend, you were definitely smiling.
5 vs. 1 - Touchdowns compared to interceptions for Peyton Manning the past two weeks. It was a little slow going out of the gates for Manning following off-season knee surgery, but Manning is clicking with his offense now. He hooked up with his receivers three times for scores this Sunday. Marvin Harrison, his long-time touchdown man, was on the receiving end of three passes for 83 yards, two of which went for scores. Just like old times, eh?
4.67 - Average point margin for the Jacksonville Jaguars first six games of the season. One thing Jags fans can be assured of is that their team will be in every game until the end--no gimmes and no butt-whoopins.
110.8 - Total rushing (76.5) and receiving (34.3) yards for Bears rookie running back Matt Forte. One thing often overlooked for running backs is their ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Forte ranks second in the NFL in receptions behind Reggie Bush, who has 41 catches for 206 yards. If you're in a league that gets points for receptions, Forte and Bush are that much more valuable.
