6, 108 vs. 7, 96 - Receptions and receiving yards for Carolina tight end Dante Rosario during his rookie season in 2007 compared to his numbers in Week One against the San Diego Chargers. Some folks have compared this kid to Antonio Gates, and we may have just gotten a first taste of that ability.
21 - Consecutive pre-November games that the Colts had won prior to Sunday night's loss to the Bears. Indianapolis hadn't lost a regular season game in September or October since Halloween 2004 against the Chiefs.
1,316, 2 vs. 138, 3 - Total rushing yards and touchdowns for Pittsburgh's Willie Parker in 2007 compared to his numbers on Sunday. The speedy running back was kept out of the end zone somehow for the majority of last season, but not so much in 2008. Parker exploded on Sunday, leading the Steelers to a runaway victory. Think he feels the pressure of having Rashard Mendenhall waiting in the wings?
10 - The number of 50+ yard touchdown scores in Week One. Let's call it "Big Play Sunday". It seems big plays are far more common of a college phenomena than in the NFL, but not in Week One. Of those 10 plays, two came in the variety of kick returns, and one a defensive score. Still seven big plays for TDs makes for a crazy weekend. And if we drop the threshold down to 40 yards, you can add two more scores to that total. From Atlanta and Matt Ryan's first NFL pass (a 62-yard score to Michael Jenkins) to Chicago and Matt Forte's 50-yard scamper, we were electrified this week.
220 - Rushing yards on Sunday by former LaDainian Tomlinson backup-turned-Atlanta Falcon Michael Turner. He pounded the Detroit defense and has Atlanta fans doing the Icky Shuffle and Dirty Bird once again. His two TDs and club-record rushing total is impressive regardless who the opposing defense was.
204 - All-purpose yards for Philadelphia rookie wide receiver DeSean Jackson. With Kevin Curtis out, the Eagles turned their speedy rookie loose. He led the team with six receptions for 106 yards, though he was kept out of the end zone, and he returned eight punts for 97 yards, including a long return of 60 yards. At 5'10", he's not a big receiver, but he looks like he could be a big factor in the Philly offense this season.
1 - Number of touchdowns scored by the Colts offense, which happens to be the same number of touchdowns scored by the Bears defense thanks to a fumble return by born-again Bear Lance Briggs. Brian Urlacher and company also recorded a safety in the contest. Some oddsmakers had the Colts favored by 10 points heading into this game, and if you missed it, you'll have to find Urlacher's on-field, post-game interview for his thoughts about being an underdog.
2.5 - Speaking of odds, the number of the points the Patriots are getting in Week Two against the New York Jets. With Tom Brady done for the season, the AFC East is wide open, and the stage could be set for Brett Favre to become New York's new star.
3 vs. 2 - Interceptions thrown by Jaguars quarterback David Garrard over the course of the entire 2007 season compared to his picks in Week One. With his two starting guards likely to land on the Injured Reserved list, Garrard could be in store for a long season. Vince Manuwai reportedly tore both his anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in his right knee, while fellow offensive lineman Maurice Williams ruptured his right biceps muscle.
99, 35.3 - Passing yards and quarterback rating for Carson Palmer on Sunday. It can't get any worse than this, can it?
