Jeremy Shockey (PRO) – Shockey is one of the league’s better
pass-catching tight ends. At the age of 27, he has a great combination
of youth and experience and should be at his peak physically. Spending
the first six years of his career playing for the New York Giants,
Shockey has never had a top-end quarterback throwing him the ball. Now
that Shockey has been moved to the New Orleans Saints, he has an elite
signal caller to work with in Drew Brees. The move to the NFC
South, a weaker division than the East, also provides an easier
schedule and a greater opportunity to produce. Shockey’s turbulent
offseason has caused his draft value to take a small hit. If you can
get Shockey below market value, don’t be afraid to pull the trigger.

Jeremy Shockey (CON) - Shockey grabbed a fair amount of press
during his time in New York, but the fact is that his numbers last
season were rather pedestrian. Shockey’s 44.2 receiving yards per game
last year was good for only seventh-best among tight ends, while his
total of three scoring catches was equaled or exceeded by 25 NFL tight
ends. Oh by the way, Shockey broke his leg last December and has never
played all 16 games or scored more than seven touchdowns in any of his
six NFL seasons. The Saints tight end is a serviceable fantasy starter,
but owners looking for elite numbers--or a full season--from their
fantasy tight end should probably look elsewhere.
