PRO/CON Chad Pennington

Chad Pennington (PRO) - Do you want three reasons why Pennington may actually climb back to fantasy relevance in his new digs in Miami? How about Josh McCown, John Beck and Chad Henne? The ‘Fins’ pre-Pennington quarterback triumvirate has managed only 36 career touchdown passes between them, while Pennington has racked up 82 lifetime scoring tosses, along with a respectable 65.6 completion percentage. True, Pennington doesn’t have a big arm, and true, his receiving corps isn’t exactly made up of household names, but as Miami’s starting quarterback Pennington could post numbers worthy of an occasional bye-week start.

Chad Pennington (CON) – Pennington is a serviceable quarterback if a franchise is looking for a game manager who completes a high percentage of mid-range passes and protects the football. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, game managers do little to help fantasy teams. Pennington has never passed for more than 3,352 yards or 22 touchdowns in a season. To further lessen his attractiveness in the fantasy football world one needs to look no further than his supporting cast. Pennington will play behind a subpar offensive line with a lackluster group of wideouts. Pennington will have less than a month to establish chemistry with his receivers and grasp an entirely new playbook. For all intents and purposes, Pennington doesn’t even appear worthy to occupy the bench for a fantasy football team, unless you are playing in an extremely deep league
