PRO/CON Adrian Peterson

Andy Goldstein PRO Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson (PRO) - Seriously? We're debating about Purple Jesus? (http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/tag/purple-jesus) I could order a pizza and play some Halo while writing this. There's no thought required. Okay, I understand LaDainian Tomlinson is still the consensus top pick, but Peterson should be. Before the injury slowed him last season, he averaged an unfathomable 6.5 yards per carry. Sure, it was a little inflated due to the relatively low carry count, but even if he finishes at six or the high fives, he's the clear cut number one. Basically, the question here shouldn't be whether Peterson is worth the number one pick, it should be whether he stakes a claim as the next Jim Brown.

Mike Mady CON Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson (CON) - After setting the NFL on fire his rookie year, Peterson has become a popular commodity in the fantasy football world. Peterson’s upside and top-end value are undeniable but is he worth the top pick in fantasy drafts? No. First, Peterson’s potential for injury is a concern. Entering his rookie season, that was the biggest knock against him and, despite a fantastic campaign, he did miss two games with injury. His reckless running style punishes defenders and is great for gaining extra yards, but does leave him susceptible for big hits and injuries. Also, Peterson’s inconsistent play will make life hard on fantasy owners. Peterson’s 13 total touchdowns came in only seven games, meaning he didn’t score in seven others. Peterson ran for over 100 yards in a game six times last season and rushed for less than 50 four times – including a 14 carry, three-yard performance in Week 14 – a playoff week in some leagues.
