Shakedown > Week 15

1. New England (14-0, Last week’s ranking: 1) – I guess the Pats can run the ball when the really want to. If New England has proved anything this year, it’s that this team can adapt to every situation.

2. Indianapolis (12-2, Last week’s ranking: 3) – The Colts clinched their fifth straight straight AFC South title and are in good position to make another run at the Super Bowl.

3. Dallas (12-2, Last week’s ranking: 2) – Now we know the difference between the Cowboys’ offense and New England’s attack. When the Eagles were blitzing Tom Brady like crazy, the Pats still put up 31 points and won. Against the Cowboys, Philadelphia only allowed six points to walk away with the victory.

4. Green Bay (12-2, Last week’s ranking: 4) Brett Favre will get all the accolades for breaking Dan Marino’s all-time yardage record, but the offensive line has to get a big assist for protecting Green Bay’s icon.

5. Jacksonville (10-4, Last week’s ranking: 6) – Like the Packers, Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio has to be ecstatic how his offensive line opened up the holes against a tough Steelers’ defense that allowed Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew to do their thing.

6. San Diego (9-5, Last week’s ranking: 7) – I know they played against a spiraling Lions team, but the Chargers – hold your breath – appear to be hitting their stride. It’s hard to believe this team looked hopeless only a few weeks ago.

7. Pittsburgh (9-5, Last week’s ranking: 5) – Suddenly, the Steelers may not win their division if they don’t win the last two games.

8. Cleveland (9-5, Last week’s ranking: 10) – Forget about that crazy snow game against Buffalo, the Browns are hot on the heels of the Steelers. Cleveland’s final two games are at Cincinnati and home to San Francisco. The immediate future looks good.

9. Tampa Bay (9-5, Last week’s ranking: 11) – The Bucs keep winning and while that’s great, they did play the Falcons, so let’s not get carried away.

10. Seattle (9-5, Last week’s ranking: 8) – How can you take this team seriously when it loses to the lowly Carolina Panthers.

11. N.Y. Giants (9-5, Last week’s ranking: 9) – See Seattle only insert Washington. I know the Redskins aren’t as bad as Carolina, but the Giants need to win that game at home.

12. Minnesota (8-6, Last week’s ranking: 12) – As long as Adrian Peterson remains healthy, the Vikings have to be a scary team to play against, especially if they advance to the post-season.

13. Tennessee (8-6, Last week’s ranking: 14) – If the Titans don’t make the playoffs this year, they’re going to be kicking themselves for throwing away some games in early November.

14. New Orleans (7-7, Last week’s ranking: 17) – The Saints playoff hopes ride on the right arm of Drew Brees. The Saints QB really did a number against the Cardinals, throwing for 315 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

15. Buffalo (7-7, Last week’s ranking: 13) – Somebody should tell Bills fans that Cleveland also played in that ridiculous snow game.

16. Houston (7-7, Last week’s ranking: 21) – It’s funny how quickly the jeers turn to cheers when you’re playing so well. Right, Mario Williams?

17. Arizona (6-8, Last week’s ranking: 15) – Years of losing really is hard to get over. I can’t fathom being a Cardinals fans. It really looks hard.

18. Detroit (6-8, Last week’s ranking: 16)Matt Millen was talked about early on as a top executive after Detroit’s quick start. And now? Let’s just say fans of the team wouldn’t be sad to see him leave town.

19. Philadelphia (6-8, Last week’s ranking: 19) – Amazingly, the Eagles actually have a winning record (4-3) on the road. That can’t sit well with Philadelphia fans.

20. Washington (7-7, Last week’s ranking: 20) – It’s probably too late for a playoff push, but the Redskins have done a great job sticking together with all they have gone though.

21. Denver (6-8, Last week’s ranking: 18) – When the Broncos look back on this failed season, they’ll know the passing game wasn’t the problem.

22. Chicago (5-9, Last week’s ranking: 22) – I think the Donovan McNabb-to-Chicago rumors will pick up steam now that the Bears are officially eliminated from the playoffs.

23. Carolina (6-8, Last week’s ranking: 24) – The Cowboys didn’t want to release QB Matt Moore. Now we know why.

24. Baltimore (4-10, Last week’s ranking: 23) – Congratulations Brian Billick! Aside from this forgettable season, you made be the only team to lose to the Miami Dolphins this year.

25. Cincinnati (5-9, Last week’s ranking: 25) – I just can’t understand how a lethal tandem like Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson can look so out of sync.

26. Kansas City (4-10, Last week’s ranking: 26) – It’ll be interesting to see if the Chiefs still have enough faith in Brodie Croyle with three outstanding quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft available in April.

27. Oakland (4-10, Last week’s ranking: 27) – It’s Week 15 and still no JaMarcus Russell. What are you waiting for, Lane Kiffin?

28. San Francisco (4-10, Last week’s ranking: 30) – The 49ers may have saved the New England Patriots millions of dollars with that win against the pitiful Bengals.

29. St. Louis (3-11, Last week’s ranking: 28) – I know Marc Bulger is tough but he’s really risking head injuries coming back from a concussion and playing behind a battered offensive line.

30. Atlanta (3-11, Last week’s ranking: 29) – I hope the Bobby Petrino fiasco teaches NFL owners not to gleefully throw millions at college coaches. You better hope that Arkansas job pans out, Bobby, because you may have no other avenue – unless you like high school.

31. N.Y. Jets (3-11, Last week’s ranking: 31) – I have no sarcasm for the Jets this week. Furthermore, Leon Washington is one heck of a weapon. It’s not bad there’s not enough of him to go around.

32. Miami (1-13, Last week’s ranking: 32) – I was bang on when I predicted the Dolphins wouldn’t go winless two weeks ago. Oh wait, then I recanted that statement last week. I guess that doesn’t make me look that smart. So what else is knew?
