So this is the week that Bill Belichick’s Patriots seek revenge on former protégé Eric Mangini’s Jets. The NFL record for most points scored in one game is 73 by the Chicago Bears in the 1940 NFL championship game. Las Vegas oddsmakers believe the Patriots will score somewhere between 35 and 37 points (given that the Patriots are favored by 24 points and the Over/Under total is 47). That hardly seems realistic. Do people believe that the Jets will be able to control the clock running the ball to keep the score down? Do people believe that the Jets defense will stop the Patriots from scoring touchdowns and force field goals? Do people believe that in the end Belichick will feel sorry for Mangini and start taking a knee instead of scoring more touchdowns?

I don’t buy it. Look for the Patriots to attack whenever they have the ball and score touchdowns at will. 49 points at half-time, one more Brady touchdown pass to start the third quarter, and Matt Cassel for the final 21 points.
