NFFC Zone and More > CREATiVESPORTS Places Two Teams in the Championship Round

After 12 hard-fought weeks dealing with injuries, free-agent bids, and watching the ups-and-downs associated with fantasy football, two of the three CREATiVESPORTS teams entered in the 2007 National Fantasy Football Championship have qualified for the three-week championship round.

Only 57 of the 364 teams that entered the competition qualified for the championship round (by finishing first or second in their 14-team division or ranking in the top 36 in total points. Both the CREATiVESPORTS Lori/ Brian team and the CREATiVESPORTS Kastner team qualified by finishing second in their respective leagues.

J.P. Kastner was able to keep his team together in spite of the season ending injury to star running back Ronnie Brown and the on-again, off-again injury/suspension status of Travis Henry. Strong play all season from quarterback Tony Romo (30.8 ppg) and tight end Antonio Gates (16.0 ppg) led the charge.

Lori Rubinson and Brian Walton's success was driven by a balanced attack, general good health, astute free agent acquisitions, and strong quarterback/tight end play. Peyton Manning (24.9 ppg) and Kellen Winslow (15.5 ppg) were consistently good over the 12 week season. The free agent acquisition of Earnest Graham gave the Rubinson/Walton team three strong running backs (Jamal Lewis and Willis McGahee being the other two). Pre-season injury concerns about Torry Holt allowed him to drop into Lori and Brian's lap much later than usual. While the touchdown numbers are down a little (six so far), Holt is seventh in the NFL in receiving yards and tied for ninth in receptions.

Anything can happen when we get to the three-week championship round, and hopefully the cards will fall in the right direction for Lori/Brian and J.P.

Good Luck!
