Weekly Forecast > Bring the Noise!

It’s hard to believe that the fantasy football season is almost finished. In fact, it already is for many of us. Week 14 represents the start of the fantasy postseason for the vast majority of leagues. It’s officially win-or-go-home time, folks.

Every weekend on the gridiron is riveting with fantasy football, but the playoffs are truly the most special. If you come up short this weekend, your championship hopes are quickly dashed. If you win, you can dream for at least another week.

The Weekly Forecast will get you caught up to date with the latest on in the injury front, some depth chart movement and positive and negative matchup statistics. For example, this season no-brainer MVP Tom Brady faces the toughest pass defense in the game, while inferior QBs Trent Dilfer, Kellen Clemens and Chris Redman face the worst squads defending the pass. We’ll get you prepared with the latest news on the gridiron now.

Quarterbacks
The Falcons will start Chris Redman on Monday Night Football against the Saints instead of Joey Harrington or Byron LeftwichBrodie Croyle (back) is also expected to return for the Chiefs this week if he feels better by Thursday, pushing Damon Huard back to the bench … The Bucs will also get their starting quarterback this week, as Jeff Garcia (back) should return. Luke McCown played brilliantly last week, but will return to back-up duties.

The Rams will also get Marc Bulger back behind center this week as Gus Frerotte is expected to miss at least one week with a partially torn labrum. He filled in last week with 313 yards passing and three TDs last week, but apparently his career in now in danger with this injury. If he’s unable to throw in the next couple weeks, he’ll likely go under the knife. Bulger has been cleared to practice and should return to game action, baring any setbacks.

Josh McCown will get another start at QB for the Raiders and despite making his NFL debut last week, JaMarcus Russell isn't expected to play this week. Daunte Culpepper or possible even Andrew Walter will be McCown's immediate backup. The rookie has reportedly never played in a game with severe weather, so the Raiders will continue to slowly bring him around. The No. 1 selection is still worth grabbing in keeper and dynasty leagues, especially if you’re already out of contention though. Expect some nice things from the LSU standout in 2008.

Injury List
Marc Bulger (concussion) – will likely return in Week 14
Brett Favre (elbow, shoulder) – expected to start because that’s what he always does
Gus Frerotte (shoulder) – out this week, Bulger will resume starting
Jeff Garcia (back) – might return, if not Luke McCown would replace
Donovan McNabb (ankle, thumb) – expected to return in Week 14
Steve McNair (shoulder) – out for the season, Kyle Boller will start
Aaron Rodgers (hamstring) – might miss Week 14, Craig Nall would be backup
Matt Schaub (shoulder) – out indefinitely, Sage Rosenfels will start Week 14
Alex Smith (arm) – might be out the year, Trent Dilfer will start
Vinny Testaverde (back) – will start Week 14, Matt Moore is No. 2 QB
Kurt Warner (elbow) – probable, will start

Running Backs
After a couple months of speculation, Travis Henry has somehow avoided a one-year suspension for violating the league’s drug policy despite testing positive for marijuana. He’ll resume being Denver’s primary back, while Selvin Young and Andre Hall compete for the scraps.

Marshawn Lynch (ankle) was able to practice on Wednesday after being sidelined the past few weeks. He hopes to return this weekend against the winless Dolphins, but Bills coach Dick Jauron said he wouldn’t risky playing the rookie if there was a likely chance he could aggravate the high ankle sprain. With Anthony Thomas out for the season now, look for Fred Jackson to get another start in the backfield – he came through for 151 total yards last week and should be a nice surrogate starter if Lynch sits out his fourth straight contest.

Injury List
Shaun Alexander (knee, wrist) – Maurice Morris could share RB workload
Jesse Chatman (ankle) – game-time decision, Samkon Gado or Lorenzo Booker would replace if he cannot play
Najeh Davenport (foot) – questionable, expected to play this week
Ahman Green (knee) – questionable, Ron Dayne would replace
Chris Henry (suspension) – can return in Week 16
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) – expected to return, Reuben Droughns would replace if he cannot suit up
Larry Johnson (foot) – likely out for the season, Kolby Smith will replace
Marshawn Lynch (ankle) – questionable for Week 14, Fred Jackson would replace
Michael Pittman (ankle) – questionable, will likely be limited backing up Earnest Graham regardless
Anthony Thomas (calf) – out for the season
Derrick Ward (ankle) – out for the season
LenDale White (finger) – probable, expected to play – Chris Brown is backup

Wide Receivers
The Colts got Marvin Harrison (knee) back at practice on Wednesday, but the All-Pro receiver remains questionable for this Sunday’s contest vs Baltimore. Coach Tony Dungy said Harrison “has a chance to play,” but he’s quite a gamble with the Sunday night game-time.

The Lions will be without their stud wideout Roy Williams for possibly the remainder of the regular season. He’s officially out 3-5 weeks and said on Wednesday that he’s hoping to return in Week 17. That makes him a very droppable player in non-keeper leagues. Calvin Johnson and Shaun McDonald will start at receiver, while Mike Furrey starts in the slot.

The Cardinals receiver position is also very banged up right now, as stud wideouts Larry Fitzgerald (groin) and Anquan Boldin (toe) are very banged up right now. Fitzgerald was limited practice on Wednesday after sitting out last week and said he’s hopeful to return this week. The news isn’t as good for Boldin though; he sat out practice and it sounds like surgery could be the next step for the FSU product. While their each banged up, Bryant Johnson is in line to make a start and play a prominent role in this week’s contest against Seattle.

Injury List
Arnaz Battle (ankle) – probable, expected to play
Anquan Boldin (toe) – might sit this week out, Bryant Johnson will likely start
Plaxico Burress (ankle, knee) – questionable, game-time decision
Laveranues Coles (ankle) – questionable, expected to play
Jerricho Cotchery (finger) – questionable, might play with cast on finger
Larry Fitzgerald (groin) – questionable, limited at practice Wednesday
Terry Glenn (knee surgery) – out indefinitely
D.J. Hackett (ankle) – out, might return in Week 15
Marvin Harrison (knee) – doubtful, game-time decision again
Santonio Holmes (ankle) – expected to play, Nate Washington would replace
Brandon Jones (groin) – questionable, likely will miss Week 14
Antwaan Randle El (hamstring) – probable, expected to return
Javon Walker (knee) – will likely be limited
Roy Williams (DET) (knee) – out for 3-5 weeks, Shaun McDonald and Calvin Johnson will start

Tight Ends
Todd Heap
was able to return to a limited practice on Wednesday from a hamstring injury, but his status still remains uncertain. He’s been unable to get through a complete game since Week 3, so it’s a long shot that he’ll be able to make much of a difference this week. TE Daniel Wilcox caught a TD against the Patriots last week and is probably a more reliable option with Heap’s nagging ailment.

Injury List
Bubba Franks (knee) – doubtful, Donald Lee will continue to start
Todd Heap (hamstring) – might be out for the season
Bo Scaife (shoulder) – questionable, expected to play
