10, 147 - For only the first time this season Donald Driver recorded double digit receptions with 10, totaling 147 yards. It was his second 100-yard game of the year. Brett Favre has been spreading the ball around this season, but as the games get bigger, look for Favre to connect with Driver more often.
484 - Passing yards on Sunday for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner. With an overtime contest, Warner almost hit 500 yards on the day. Instead, he fumbled the ball in the end zone. What looked like it was going to be a game-ending sack resulted in a game-ending touchdown for Tully Banta-Cain and the San Francisco 49ers. The victory was the Niners' first since Week Two.
3 - Touchdowns score by the Minnesota Vikings defense. Many folks figured the Giants would walk all over the Vikings, but clearly the Vikings D had other things in mind. They picked Eli Manning four times and returned three of them for scores en route to a 41-17 pounding in the Meadowlands.
282, 2 - Total return yards and touchdowns for Devin Hester Sunday afternoon against the Denver Broncos. You'd think Mike Shanahan would know better. Then again, we keep expecting each coach in the NFL to avoid Hester like the plague, yet they keep playing with fire. Hester burnt Shanahan twice, both times tying the football game. He returned a punt 75 yards hurdling Todd Sauerbrun on his way to the end zone, and later returned a kickoff 88 yards, once again showing Sauerbrun the bottom of his shoes as he stepped over his sprawled-out body. Hester has now returned 10 kicks for touchdowns in his career, a new franchise record surpassing Gayle Sayers previous mark of eight.
31, 151, 2 - Rushes, yards, and touchdowns for Kansas City running back Kolby Smith. No Larry Johnson. No Priest Holmes. No problem. Well, perhaps. He had a monster day for the Chiefs, but it wasn't good enough. In an interesting move, down just three points with 4:22 to play, Herman Edwards decided to go for it on fourth and one on the Oakland 23. They were well-within range for the tying field goal. Instead, Edwards called on his offensive line and Smith to get the first down. And they were stuffed. Game over. A great day for the fantasy owners, but not a good day for Chiefs fans.
3 - Points score in Monday night's sloppy contest between the now 0-11 Miami Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the pouring rain and on a field where the lines and numbers were barely legible, scoring was a premium. In fact, the two teams almost played out regulation without putting a single point on the board. But Jeff Reed nailed a 24-yard field goal with just 17 seconds left to play for a 3-0 Pittsburgh win.
77, 10,048 - Rushing yards Sunday for LaDanian Tomlinson and total career rushing yards. He became the 23rd player to reach the 10,000-yard milestone. Fred Taylor did it earlier this season, and Warrick Dunn quietly reached the mark on Thursday against the Colts. Tomlinson is the fourth fastest to reach the impressive milestone, tying Emmitt Smith by getting there in 106 games.
6, 105 - Receptions and receiving yards for rookie wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez Thursday night on the NFL Network. After everyone was finished stuffing their faces with turkey, Gonzalez showed he just might be the future for the Colts, if not the present. He stepped up his game big time for Peyton Manning and company en route to his first 100-yard receiving game of his very promising career.
6 - Number of turnovers given up by the Washington Redskins Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You can look at it two ways. Either the Skins gave the ball away six times, or the Bucs defense took it six times. No matter how you slice it, you can't deny that turnovers are tough to overcome. Even though the Redskins defense held strong most of the game, the Redskins offense couldn't protect the ball nor get things going when necessary. Result: a 19-13 Bucs win.
83, 110 - Solo tackles and total tackles for San Francisco linebacker Patrick Willis. With a struggling offense, Willis might get more time on the field than linebackers for teams with better records, but the rookie is a beast and is on track to be the top dog in tackles in the NFL.
