Extra Points > So Close!

After all the whining I have committed to eternity on these virtual pages over the past few weeks, I am suddenly finding it funny, if not ironic, that my teams are actually playing pretty well all of a sudden.

More interestingly, the last couple of weeks my lawrghettos team has been involved in a couple of nailbiters, and I mean nailbiters.

Last Monday, going into the game between the Broncos and the Packers, the Meanderthals, my opponents held the lead 47.15 to 46.10, with the Meanderthals having Brandon Stokley to play, and lawrghettos Jason Elam.

Stokley picked up 40 yards in receptions to pull further ahead until Elam kicked a 45-yarder, pushing me ahead. A PA helped keep it close, but Stokely did grab a few more passes, which I needed to get Elam close, but not so much that it would keep me behind a TD behind.

It worked so that the final regulation drive, we were down 57.45 to 55.10 and regulation ended with Elam knocking one down the middle to give us a 58.10 to 57.45 lead going into overtime.

"Just set up Elam for a winning score," I thought as the kick-off, then realizing that if indeed the Packers would simply score, I need think no further. Next Farve nails it, and I won. Out of nowhere, in a game where a total of 58.10 is an embarassment. But, you take what you get.

So, this week, I go up against the Manhattan Marauders  who might not be that good at 4-5, but they are better than my 2-7 mark, with my last ranked offense.

But, again thanks to a nice games from Reggie Williams and Justin Fargas, I went into Monday night down 81.55 to 80.10, thinking this is hopeless, even though I have the Steelers defense going.

That is because the Marauders have both Heath Miller and Willie Parker.

However, our league grants five points to the defense to start the game, and as points are scored, they can lose them, so suddenly I am ahead 85.10 to 81.55.

And, it is halftime as I write, with lawrghettos up 97.10 to 93.65, so, there is indeed hope.

It is also quite exciting, to say the least, and I might find comfort in the fact that maybe my team is not so good, but at least the rest of the league became so injured, that they were essentially dragged down to my level.

Let me tell you: It feels good!
