27 - Touchdown passes this season already for Tom Brady after posting another six on Sunday against the Dolphins. He's just seven games into the season and he's already just one off from his career best, set twice in 2002 and 2004. And what's even scarier is that he's thrown just two picks this season.
26 - Points posted by Tennessee kicker Rob Bironas on Sunday. Kickers are usually a crapshoot. Over the length of a season, there might be a couple that emerge as bigger point-scorers than others, but for the most part they're all bunched together. Thing is, occasionally they have monster weeks. Bironas had one of those weeks setting an NFL record with eight converted field goal attempts, including one from 52-yards. To put this into perspective, Bironas scored 98 points last season and 99 the year before. And he's got just 60 points this season through six games.
97 - Distance in yards that Brian Griese covered with the Bears offense in the final two minutes of their game Sunday in Philadelphia. With the Bears down 16-12, Griese did his best John Elway impersonation and took the Bears virtually the length of the field with no time-outs for the game-winning touchdown, a 15-yard pass to Muhsin Muhammad. Interestingly enough, this game featured two eye-catching stats: both Philly and Chicago didn't turn the ball over a single time and Devin Hester didn't return a single kick. The offenses controlled the football, and Philly made sure to keep the ball far away from Hester.
8 - Yards rushing for Priest Holmes longest carry Sunday afternoon. He netted four rushes for nine yards and had a reception for -6 yards. Holmes was THE fantasy football player a few years back before he handed the torch to Larry Johnson thanks to some injuries. It's been a tough road back, but Holmes has been the definition of persistence, and he made his return debut on Sunday against Oakland. He's not going to be the NFL's MVP anytime soon, but he could definitely provide a lift to Kansas City, who just happens to be leading the AFC West division these days.
8, 29, 2 - Receptions, yards receiving, and touchdowns for Arizona's Anquan Boldin Sunday afternoon. He made his return to the lineup and despite his dismal 3.6 yards per reception, he rewarded fantasy owners who put him back in the starting lineup by snagging two scores.
2 - The number of running backs that scored more than one touchdown this weekend. Kenny Watson posted three scores and Clinton Portis two. It just hasn't been a powerful-numbers year for the running backs, well, except for the running backs facing the New York Jets as Watson showed Sunday with his week-high 130 yards. The Jets are giving up 138 yards per game on the ground. Still four teams are worse. Oakland (141.7), Cleveland (149.5), Miami (156.4), and Denver (176.2).
5 - Turnovers Sunday for St. Louis quarterback Marc Bulger. Many folks expected big, big things from Bulger and the Rams this season, but they have been one big bust. Their offensive line is beat up, especially with Orlando Pace out for the year, but this is still horrific. Bulger threw three picks and lost two fumbles on Sunday against Seattle. He was also sacked seven times.
4 - Touchdown passes Sunday by Sage Rosenfels. You can add a question mark to that first sentence if it helps you read it better. And then you can answer yes to it. Matt Schaub left the game with injuries twice, but he did not return the second time. Rosenfels did his best to mount a comeback, but thanks to the aforementioned Bironas, their bid fell short. Schaub is currently listed as day-to-day with a hip injury.
97.2 - Passer rating for Byron Leftwich, who made his first start for the Atlanta Falcons Sunday. He was 15 for 23 with a touchdown pass to Roddy White and had the Falcons thinking upset against the Saints on the road. Alas, Leftwich went down with what appeared to be a high ankle sprain. The report is that the injury isn't "season-ending" but that it is "serious", so look for Joey Harrington to be back under center once again.
63 - Tackles for rookie San Francisco linebacker Patrick Willis, which is good for second best in the NFL behind Tampa Bay's Barrett Ruud, who has 66. Willis is only going to get better so, for you IDP competitors, take notice now.
