Extra Points > Taking it to the Krause?

If you watch the ESPN Sunday Game Day show, you have probably seen their impish young reporter, Jason Krause, and his Taking it to the House segment wherein the ten-year old fifth grader makes his own fantasy analysis each week.

In truth, Jason is pretty good in front of the camera, but each week, unfortunately, I find I have more in common with him, or at least his team.

A few weeks back he was bemoaning his #1 pick, that of Larry Johnson, followed by #2 selection, Drew Brees, who collectively, and at the time, had helped secure a solid 0-5 mark for his fantasy team.

As I have noted, I can relate, although at least each of my teams has managed a victory. But, well, my NAFFL is just ripe with problems, including Vince Young as a starter, with Alex Smith as the backup (thank heavens Brian Griese was available this week on the free agent list, huh?), running backs Rudi Johnson (a freezer) and Deuce McCalister (my first selection following three freezes), not to mention wideout Hines Ward.

OK, so I have written of these woes before, but, I was thinking about Krause and his troubles when I logged into the NAFFL site Sunday morning, and, through the entire first run of games, I had an ungainly 0 (as in Zero) points.

Right. Zero.

How is that possible? Well, to start, I only had one player going in the first run of games, and that was Tatum Bell, new to my team off the waiver wire, and well, he did zilch.

But, I have to say it is further frustrating when Johnson pulls zero points as well while his backup, Kenny Watson scrambles for 130 yards and three scores.

So, how good can I expect my team to be when I copped a total of 4.80 points from my RB's, all from Julius Jones?

The answer is not very, and, well, like Jason Krause, I cannot claim I froze or drafted poorly, like I did in another league a few years back when I went for Jamal Lewis early on instead of LT.

This time, everyone and everything simply went south on me, all at the same time, all with absolutely no advance warning.

In fairness, thanks to Griese to a degree, I did wind up with 70 points for the week, which might have been just enough to win one matchup, against someone, but not win against my actual opponent, who whomped me by almost 40 points. (Think of the difference having Watson would have made, right?).

I guess it is a good thing I play this game for fun, because if I didn't there would be no house to take it to.

It would have burned down weeks ago.
