NFL By the Numbers > Week Six

1 vs. 65 - The number of combined times the Bears and Vikings were in the red zone on Sunday compared to the total number of points scored in the game. There were plenty of big plays in the game, which means the safeies on both teams decided to take a leave of absence, not to mention the kicking-coverage teams.

5 - Field goals kicked by Baltimore's Matt Stover on Sunday. The impotent Ravens offense has been struggling to get the ball in the end zone, but Stover has been the little blue pill they've needed. He continues to be one of the top kickers in the league and for your fantasy roster.

20, 33, 0, 1, 206 - Completions, attempts, yards passing, interceptions, and touchdown passes for the ageless one, Vinny Testaverde, on behalf of the 4-2 Carolina Panthers. The 43-year-old veteran wasn't even employed last week. With Jake Delhomme out for the season and David Carr struggling to make the starting lineup due to his own nagging injuries, the Panthers made the call to football's version of baseball's Jesse Orosco. Who said it takes a QB at least a year or two to learn a team's offensive system?

224 - Rushing yards Sunday by Minnesota's Adrian Peterson, the most ever by a Bears opponent. Oh, and by the way, he did it in Soldier Field. Add in 9 receiving yards and an additional whopping 128 kick return yards and you've got 361 all-purpose yards. That's just filthy!

4 - Touchdowns scored by Trent Green's replacement in Miami and one of the more popular names to say in football this week, Cleo Lemon. The Dolphins are winless at 0-6, but Lemon has given fans some hope with two passing TDs and another two on the ground.

105 - Receiving yards for Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley this past Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Cooley had his biggest day of the season catching nine passes and scoring a touchdown. He has now scored in four consecutive games.

388, 5 - Passing yards and touchdowns for Tom Brady Sunday afternoon against the Dallas Cowboys. It was supposed to be the "Duel in Dallas", but it ended up being more like the tail-whipping in Dallas. Brady methodically picked apart that Dallas defense and gave America's Team a reality check. And who was Brady's main man on Sunday? Not Randy Moss, though he did have a score. Nope, it was Wes Welker, who snagged 11 balls for 124 yards and two touchdowns.

10 - Average yards per carry for Jacksonville's Maurice Jones-Drew on Sunday. The second-year back he continues to be a speedy force with tremendous separation speed once he finds daylight. He got just 12 carries on Sunday, but he racked up 125 yards and two touchdowns. Quietly this Jaguars team is 4-1 and they get to face off with Indianapolis this week in Florida.

30.6 - Passer rating for St. Louis Rams quarterback Gus Frerotte Sunday against Baltimore. Frerotte's performance earned him the lowest rating of all QBs in the NFL for the week. He tossed five interceptions and almost had a sixth but they ruled it a fumble. Thing is that is still had the same result. Bottomline, the Rams moved to 0-6 while giving the Baltimore defense an extra practice on Sunday afternoon.

8 - Receptions for New Orleans wide receiver David Patten Sunday evening while visiting the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field. The secondary was sparse in trying to cover Patten over the middle, and the Twelfth Man wasn't good enough to keep him from doing his damage. Drew Brees ate up that Seahawks secondary connecting with Patten for 113 yards. Though Patten didn't find the end zone, he gave the Saints the spark they needed to earn their first victory of the season, and a mighty nice one on the road at that.
