If you play in the NFFC, then I presume that by now you have read the email newsletter that discussed the highest scoring team in the NFFC last week. For those who missed it, CREATiVESPORTS’ own J.P. Kastner had the highest score among the 364 teams. J.P. amassed a fantastic 201.55 points in week four led by Tony Romo, Ronnie Brown, Dwayne Bowe and the Lions defense.
A funny thing happened on the way to J.P. garnering the weekly high score prize (an autographed Aaron Rodgers jersey, appropriate for a guy living in Wisconsin), he passed along credit to me and the CREATiVESPORTS Draft Kit that I produced in the pre-season. Funny that using the same exact draft kit, J.P.’s team sits at 3-1 with the third highest overall score and I sit at 1-3 in 204th place. How can that happen?
In the grand scheme of the game, drafting strategy and the health of your team are far more important than a draft kit. It did not take a rocket scientist to project Tony Romo very high among NFL quarterbacks. The CREATiVESPORTS Draft Kit and every other draft kit had Romo in the top group of quarterbacks. But it did take the correct strategy to grab a quarterback relatively early (versus my general philosophy of drafting a quarterback pretty late). So while J.P. has Tony Romo (round four) and Brett Favre (round 10) my team has Alex Smith (round nine) and Matt Schaub (round 10). James Jones in round nine and Dwayne Bowe in round 13 were all J.P.’s picks – not mine. Maybe I can take credit for Lorenzo Booker in round 14.
At the quarter-pole, J.P.’s team looks very strong and very deep. My word of advice for J.P. and all the other players that might be looking at their teams right now believing they have a chance to win – strive to make your team better every week. Continue to replace the dead wood with players that have potential to produce. Find back-ups for your key starters if they are available. The free agent pool in every league is different, and some owners tend to cut bait on underperforming players who may come through in money time.
Do not stop improving your team!
