5.2, 500, 6, 1 - Passer rating, passing yards, interceptions, and touchdowns thrown this season for Chicago Bears often criticized quarterback Rex Grossman. After Sunday night's performance, Bears fans have yet to see "Good Rex" this season. That means three weeks of "Bad Rex" might just be enough. His passing yards is 23rd best in the league, and he leads the pack in interceptions. Brian Griese and even Kyle Orton couldn't be much worse, but will Lovie Smith finally pull the cord?
0-3 - The Saints record after three weeks. Their opponents in last season's NFC Championship game were the Chicago Bears, and they aren't much better at 1-2. Toss in a San Diego Chargers team that was 14-2 last season and sits at 1-2 after three weeks this year, and you've got the definition of a league that has built its success on parity.
1 - Number of weeks St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson is expected to miss with a partially torn groin muscle. He finally hit the century mark this weekend rushing for 115 yards on 20 carries in Tampa Bay, but he didn't find the end zone. All things considered, he's been a fantasy bust with all that pre-season hype. Now with one of those injuries that tends to keep rearing its ugly head, fantasy owners could be in for one disappointing season with the once promising back.
1, 10 - Receptions and yards receiving on Sunday for Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith. A week after going off for 153 yards and three touchdowns Smith was held in check. Part of it might have to do with starting quarterback Jake Delhomme. He got hurt in Sunday's game, despite throwing for three touchdowns. Tests on his elbow looked good, but there is a chance David Carr might get the nod against Tampa Bay if treatment doesn't progress well this week. Regardless of who is quarterbacking the Panthers, expect Smith to bounce back in Week Four.
211 - Total rushing (112) and receiving (99) yards for Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown Sunday against the Jets in a losing effort. Brown found the end zone three times, but it wasn't good enough to give the Dolphins their first win of the year.
18:28 - That's how much time it took the Philadelphia Eagles to amass a 35-7 lead against the Detroit Lions. Dressed in throwback jerseys that were downright frightening, Donovan McNabb had a field day. He tossed for 381 yards and four TDs, three of which went to Kevin Curtis in the first half. Curtis' 211 yards topped Detroit's Roy Williams' 204 yards receiving in the game. And in an endless uphill battle to come back, Detroit's QB Jon Kitna passed for 446 yards, but only two touchdowns.
62.9 - Percentage of passes completed by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo against the Chicago Bears defense Sunday night. Once the ground game appeared ineffective, Dallas went to almost nothing but the passing game. And Romo shined. He avoided pressure and threw strike after strike downfield picking apart the Bears defense. Now the Cowboys are the team to beat in the NFC at 3-0 and news articles are already pointing out an easy road to 5-0.
420 - Career touchdown passes for Brett Favre, tying Dan Marino's record. Favre looked like a kid in a candy story on Sunday. But come to think of it, he pretty much looks like that every Sunday. This guy loves to play the game, and he's riding high as he leads to the Pack with a 3-0 record.
15, 20, 258, 2 - Completions, attempts, passing yards, and touchdowns for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner in limited action Sunday. Warner led an impressive comeback against the Baltimore defense when Matt Leinart managed to complete just 5-of-20 passes for 53 yards. Alas, a questionable 15-yard penalty on Baltimore's final drive cost Arizona the glory of the comeback win.
2.8 - Yards Kansas City running back Larry Johnson is averaging this young season per carry. With 50 carries in the books through three games, LJ has just 140 yards. Ouch! Oh, and he hasn't scored yet either. It's a good thing he's not in New York or Chicago after holding out from training camp for that big money contract.
