Here we are entering the last quarter of the NFL season. Nine out of 32 teams are starting a different quarterback than they did in week one, some by choice and others by injury. The most recent quarterback change is in Denver where Jay Cutler replaces the enigmatic Jake Plummer. It is hard to deny the winning success that Plummer has as a starting quarterback, but one wonders whether the Broncos won in spite of Plummer’s performance or because of Plummer’s performance. Obviously, head coach Mike Shanahan believed on draft day the Broncos had been winning in spite of Plummer, as he orchestrated a trade up to select Cutler. At 7-4 the Broncos are in the thick of the AFC playoff race, but Shanahan believes the Broncos best chance for success at this point lies with Cutler. Fantasy owners that don’t already have a top-tier quarterback should jump at the chance to pick up Cutler.
