Stock Market > Completely Random Thoughts From a Potentially Sick Mind, Assault on The Battery

Jose Offerman - it's time to chill out buddy.  No need to take things so seriously, ok?  I mean maybe the pitch just got away and hit you, know what I mean?  If you don't understand, go through some tape of your actual playing career and see where many of the baseballs hit to you in the infield ended up (an error every 6.4).  See?  Sometimes it just gets away.  You also aren't allowed to go Juan Marichal on people, because you're not good enough.  He's a Hall of Famer and you're playing independent league ball.  You're really not thinking about things the right way, so let me give you some perspective.  When a person steals as much money as you did over the past decade, you should probably go and hide somewhere, maybe move to another country, get the stuff laundered before they find a way to rightfully take it back.  Lay low...the last thing you want to do is make a spectacle of yourself, it's in poor taste and poor judgment.  You'll be lucky if in addition to assault charges they don't drop a 'grand theft - baseball contract' on you as well.

So Barry Bonds and his lawyers are in the process of deciding whether or not to sue Curt Schilling for defamation.  Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this would be ridiculously awesome if they actually do file.  These are two guys who are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum when dealing with the media.  Bonds is usually confrontational when he gets surrounded by media members who are all taking turns to ask him the same question, while when a microphone and camera get within 10 feet of Schilling, he gets a bad case of diarrhea of the mouth with regards to any number of topics that he feels he's an expert in, which is pretty much everything.  The funny thing about Schilling is that he talks so much about things that have nothing to do with him, that in ripping Bonds, he actually made Barry look good.  As vilified as Bonds is, it would be cool to see someone stick it to Schilling.

Yovanni Gallardo - you ok there buddy?  Because you are absolutely destroying some of us here.  Do not drop the kid, not even in mixed leagues.  Most likely this is a couple start bump in the road?  At least in the last start the K's were there...

And last but not least, what a great story Rick Ankiel is.  I still remember a few years ago when he was in the playoffs throwing baseballs everywhere that this guy is friggin awesome.  I'm still kind of surprised that a shrink and a pitching coach couldn't have just gotten together and straightened him out, because he had some wicked stuff.  After he was sent down and things were looking bad for his career, I decided on a whim to buy a bunch of Rick Ankiel autographed baseballs on the cheap.  Now, many moons later, the guy is swinging for the fences, and I'm thinking “sweet!!” - these suckers might be worth something after all.  It almost got to the point that in one of my leagues I was going to have an autographed Ankiel ball be the last place prize every year until I ran out, but now I better hang on to them.
