The Yankees and Red Sox both made moves to shore up their bullpens. Boston already had one of the best pens in the game, and now Eric Gagne is in the fold to take on 8th inning duties. Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon are having good years, so Boston's starters only need to give them 6 quality innings moving forward. The Yankees promoted phenom Joba Chamberlain who has tossed five innings so far with no runs allowed. He will shore up the 8th inning for the Yankees and provide a bridge to Marinao Rivera in the 9th.
Injuries:
Troy Glaus - He has been battling through an ankle injury and is missing time.
Jay Gibbons - He went on the DL with a torn labrum in his left shoulder and is out for the rest of the season.
Who's Hot:
Jack Cust - Now has 20 Dingers in 260 AB's.
Roy Halladay - Leads the Majors with five complete games.
Jon Lester - Spun a 2 Hitter against the Devil Rays but got a no decision.
Carl Crawford - Leads the Majors in hitting since the All Star break.
Who's Not:
Jeremy Bonderman - Tigers need him to rebound after losing his last four decisions.
Johnny Damon - He is beginning to wonder about his role, and why not? Melky Cabrera is hitting .302 for the season.
Grady Sizemore - Average is down to .275 and is no longer leading off for the Tribe.
Jose Contreras - He may clear waivers and be a late addition to a contenders pitching staff.
